As an international organisation, many people of all ages, from all over the world, enjoy and benefit from experiencing the arts in various forms through the Arts Society. Now our own Lee Common School has been awarded a grant by the Arts Society, Ballinger so that the children of our area can take part in a project designed to both introduce them to an artistic process and reinforce the school’s own values at the same time. It is not often possible to embark upon projects which fall outside the usual school curriculum because tight budgets don’t allow for the extra resources necessary.
Through this grant, all pupils will be encouraged and enabled to contribute to the piece of artwork in one way or another so that it will be truly representative of the children’s efforts. Aged from 3 - 7, the children gathered together for a Vision Day to decide the design of a mosaic which will display the schools’ stated values of love, respect, perseverance, forgiveness and truth and this Arts Society funded project will embody these in the creation of the tile mosaic. The result will be mounted on a large board and displayed prominently and also be included on the schools’ social media site.
